Cllr Tim Mander was born and brought up in and around Bridgwater, studied at Bridgwater College and is an alumnus of University of the West of England from where he has a Bsc in Valuation and Estate Management and is now a retired Chartered Surveyor. After spending 36 years at Sedgemoor District Council Tim took early retirement leaving Sedgemoor as Property Services Manager.
Wanting to continue to contribute to public services, Tim stood for the Westover Ward and was honoured to be elected in 2022 for a 5 year term. Having now served over 2 years as a Town Councilor Tim has been able to put his professional experience to good use chairing the Amenities Committee which is responsible for Parks; Open Spaces and Property as well as vice chair of the Planning Committee.
Tim is committed to making the Town a Cleaner and Safer place for people to live and work and as chair of the Towns Police Forum seeks to ensure the Police are aware of and deal with the persistent challenges of anti-social behaviour which have plagued the town. Tim also supports the work that the Town Council has undertaken in tackling loneliness and isolation and the provision of youth services and events.
Tim has had a long-term interest in the arts and is delighted that the Town Council has had the foresight to secure the future of the historic Bridgwater Arts Centre and currently sitting as vice chair of the Arts Centre Steering Committee. Lastly climate change remains a huge challenge and Tim has strongly supported the Town Council’s decarbonisation of the Town Hall welcoming the installation of a roof array of solar panels and the move away from gas heating.
