7 New Covid Vaccination Centres in Bridgwater

Town Council Leader out and about in West Street with Stefka Stoianova from the Bulgarian Community

Bridgwater Councillors have been working with Public Health Somerset to increase the availability of Covid Vaccinations in the town.  As a result new centres have been popping up all over the place Town Council Leader Brian Smedley (Westover) says “Following on from the demand for Bridgwater people not to have to travel to Taunton and from the high uptake when we opened up the Town Hall as a vax centre, it was clear we needed to get wider access for people.  After some great work by Public Health Somerset, supported by SPARK Somerset and facilitated by local councillors and community leaders we’ve managed to get Vax centres right across the town. Just walk in and get your jab, no need to book. NHS staff are looking forward to seeing you whether it’s your first jab or your third! We’ve also been handing out flyers and posters in many different languages to make sure the entire community knows where they can get vaccinated.”

Joanne Towle (Public Health Somerset) has been organising the push in Bridgwater and adds “Please check our local NHS website COVID-19 vaccinations in Somerset – Somerset CCG to find clinics in your area or use the national portal to find a clinic: www.nhs.uk/grab-a-jab. You can also pre-book an appointment. To do this, visit www.nhs.uk/Covid-Vaccination or call 119 for an appointment. The helpline has over 200 languages available if you or someone you know requires an interpreter.”

Westover councillors Brian Smedley  (Town Council Leader) and Kathy Pearce (Deputy leader) accompanied the group around the town. Kathy Pearce said “It’s really important that everyone knows that it’s so easy to pop in and get your vaccination at various locations across the town. Please spread the word to help us to keep Covid at bay.”
